James Baretto

Artist Bio

James Baretto has been DJing for 17 years and is still collecting music to play to the crowd.  His specialised genres include Jazz, Lounge, vocal house, Soul and Funk. Born and raised in the UK he has accumulated quite a diverse taste in the electronic style of music. He migrated to the beautiful NZ 9 years ago then his style of music and skills behind the decks evolved some what. With being surrounded with natural roots, reggae, ska and dub, these genre styles ended up being a big part of his record collection alongside the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Queen and even Michael Jackson.

In 2003 James started his own local radio station called The Studio FM. It covered a wide range of alternative music from downtempo through to the dirtiest Drum and Bass. There were around 40 local DJs that each played a different genre of music. Today the station is only broadcasting in Queenstown.

So as his musical journey continues through the industry he has now landed his feet firmly in the sunny Bay of New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. James DJs most weekends at private functions, weddings and local bars including Astrolabe and Savvie.
